Emergency Contraception

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception is designed to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse or if the contraceptive method you used has failed. This includes situations where a condom has broken or you have missed taking your regular birth control pill. There are two types of oral emergency contraception available:

  1. Levonelle (One-stop): This option is effective if taken within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex.
  2. EllaOne: This option remains effective if taken within 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex.

It’s important to note that the sooner you take emergency contraception, the more effective it will be. To determine the most suitable option for you, we strongly recommend scheduling a consultation with our pharmacist. They will consider various clinical factors before making their recommendation on the appropriate choice for your specific situation.
