Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary Tract Infection

A urinary tract infection (UTI) refers to an infection occurring in any part of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Typically, UTIs primarily affect the lower urinary tract, specifically the bladder and the urethra.

The risk of developing a UTI is higher in women compared to men. While an infection confined to the bladder can cause pain and discomfort, if it spreads to the kidneys, it can lead to more severe health issues.

Healthcare providers commonly treat UTIs using antibiotics. Additionally, there are preventive measures that can be taken to reduce the likelihood of contracting a UTI in the first place.
